Drainage Works at the Village Entrance: Dates, Closures and Diversions

Lincolnshire County Council has confirmed it will carry out surface water drainage improvements in Aslackby this winter. This is something that residents and councillors have been lobbying for, for a number of years, in an effort to safeguard homes in the village, with flooding problems.

The improvements will address the flooding problem on the A15 at the corner of Temple Road, opposite the Robin Hood.

The main works start on Monday 16th November 2026 and will last up to 18 weeks. There will be a two-week break over Christmas with no traffic management in place.

Some disruption is unavoidable, so here’s what to expect and when.

    • Purple and blue show Phases 2a and 2b (Temple Road and Aveland Way closures, January to mid-February).
    • Red shows Phase 3 (one-week closure, late February).

The timetable

Advance works: Monday 9th November to Friday 18th December 2026

Before the main works start, the council will repair potholes and build eight new passing bays on the road to Laughton, which will later be used as the diversion route. Expect “give and take” traffic management on this road while the work is done. It should take about two weeks within this window.

Phase 1 – A15: Monday 16th November to Friday 18th December 2026

Temporary traffic lights (two-way and three-way) on the A15 around the village junctions. The road heading east from the A15 towards Mareham Lane will also be closed during this phase.

Christmas break

No roadworks or traffic management for two weeks over Christmas and New Year.

Phase 2a – Temple Road closed: Monday 4th January to Friday 5th February 2027

Phase 2b – Aveland Way closed (near the church): Monday 8th February to Friday 19th February 2027

Phase 3 – Sovereign Street closed: Monday 22nd February to Friday 26th February 2027

Phase 4 – Aveland Way closed (western end, towards the pond): Monday 1st March to Friday 12th March 2027

Diversion routes

When Aveland Way or Temple Road is closed

The signed diversion will take traffic west along Aveland Way, then north on the lanes to join the A15 at Laughton. This is the road getting the new passing bays.

During Phase 1 (road east of the A15 closed)

The diversion runs along Mareham Lane, through Graby, and back onto the A15 south of the village.
