Do you take photographs? we need your help…

We want to capture this moment in time and show what makes Aslackby such a special place to be.

Throughout history, people have used art to commemorate events and the world around them. From cave paintings to the Bayeux Tapestry, to the lockdown rainbows, art gives us a window into a time gone by.

Between 1959 and 1983, the vicar of Aslackby, Kenneth Street, recorded life in the village in poetry and pictures.

Everyday sights and sounds were his theme – the church, the river, people and wildlife ‘from the forest to the fen’.

Kenneth Street recorded a time now lost. Soon, the Aslackby of today will also be just a memory.

Which is why as part of the ‘bringing history to life’ National Heritage Lottery Fund initiative, we want to create a projected artwork of photographs of everyday sights of Aslackby Village today.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Natural Heritage Lottery Fund for their generous support in enabling us to mend the church roof, preserving such an important part of our village heritage.

The projected artwork will be shown on HERITAGE OPEN DAY on Sunday 15th September, alongside a new book of Kenneth Street’s poems.
