The Annual Meeting of the Parish Council is on Monday 18th May, starting at 6:30pm for the Annual Parish Meeting (open agenda here) – and then 7:00pm Annual Meeting of the Parish Council (open agenda here).
This is not the normal format for our Parish Council meetings, more of an annual review and looking forward.
- The Chair of the Parish Council usually presides, but if they are absent, any local elector can be appointed.
- It is not a formal council meeting and is not bound by the same regulations. Its decisions do not legally bind the Parish Council, although they are heavily considered.
- It is an opportunity for the local residents to have a say on local matters or concerns.
- The Parish should will discuss any community projects, and provide an open forum for residents to raise questions or make suggestions.
- It is open to all electors (registered voters) of the parish, who may speak and vote on any matters.
- The Annual Council meeting is more formal and sees the beginning of the new Council year. The chairman formally stands down and a new chair elected (although this could see the continuance of the current chair), the financial accounts for the year are agreed and dates for future meetings are scheduled.
- In Aslackby’s case we will also discuss some current issues but it should not necessarily be a lengthy meeting.
- It has Must be held between March 1st and June 1st, starting no earlier than 6 pm.
All members of the public are welcome to attend and particpate when invited.
